Buying new gear?

Take time to consider all your needs

There is a lot to consider when buying a uniform: durability, style, the materials, and cost. If you’re purchasing uniforms for your department, it can be overwhelming as there is a lot to consider and much research to do. Add to that the fact that uniforms aren’t a small purchase.

Here are some things to consider as you start your journey for buying new gear be it jackets, pants, shorts or shirts!

Make a list of your must-haves and nice-to-haves

Before you buy, you should have a very clear idea of what you want and what you’re willing to compromise on. What is most important to you — professional appearance, a good fit, or innovation? Will the uniform be used for tactical/special teams, or for everyday use? What design features are critical? Type of pockets, zippers, epaulettes, mic clips, venting, CSA compliant, etc. Do you care about years of service or the durability of what you end up purchasing? What about the type of fabric? And lastly, and maybe most importantly do you care if your product is manufactured off-shore or in Canada?

These details are important at the onset and will ensure your research will be complete and meaningful. Don’t forget to establish a budget too - how many people are you buying for? Look at the landscape of uniform options, then break down the brands, features, warranty conditions, and reputations and history of each of these companies. Then you’ll have a good idea of where you may want to put your money.

Consider the technology under the surface

Technical apparel is in constant evolution and some of those advancements may not be obvious at a passing glance. Fabric advances are ongoing and you want to ensure you are getting world class fabrics that are technically engineered to withstand your demanding day on the job in comfort. It’s a proven fact that the quality of your fabric will absolutely effect both the wearability and the functionality of garments.

If managing your budget is critical — you should take a hard look at your fabrics to ensure you will get years of service. We know that value for the dollar matters and that shouldn’t sacrifice quality!

Determine if the garment is a good fit!

One of the most underrated—and most important—aspects of any gear that you are wearing is the fit. A good fit can often mean more to the end user’s experience than some of the advanced features stated. A good fit improves mobility, flexibility, range of motion, and user comfort. At CSE WORKS we use YOUR measurements to get you the best fit possible! We sacrifice everything to ensure you end up with something that you enjoy wearing.

Our sizes are not standard across the board. We accommodate for all heights and the different body types and shapes between male and female officers.

Partnership

Does the company you are going to do business have a history or mandate of customer first? Will you be able to get samples of garments for your department to try out? What about custom tweaks to your garments?

At CSE WORKS™ we partner with our customers ensuring that each client has precisely the solution they need to suit their individual needs. There may be similarities in day to day activities but what’s important to you and your team may be different.
